How often do you catch yourself saying “I should stop doing this”, but never get around to implementing it?

There are several attitudes and behaviors that impact our professional success — negatively! It is critical to get rid of such behaviors immediately.

*Not seeking visibility and shying away from talking about yourself

*Not speaking up even you have something important to say

*Not taking credit for your achievements

*Staying within your comfort zone and not taking risks

*Not investing in yourself and in upgrading your skill set

*Not negotiating for a role or a project or your pay

*Not asking for what you want or deserve

*Shying away from meeting new people and networking

*Allowing the fear of failure to dictate your actions

*Not having a goal in sight — be it short-term or long-term

*Negative thinking and harboring a pessimistic outlook

*Lacking self-confidence and not taking action to boost confidence

*Being uni-dimensional and not pursuing any interest or hobby outside of work

*Not being open to receiving feedback

*Being busy and neglecting to carve out ‘me-time’

*Not having a sense of self-worth

*Not focusing on building a personal brand

*Being unaware of the unique value and skills you bring in

*Not standing up for yourself and your values

*Shying away from being in the limelight

*Fearing change and sticking with the status quo

Stop indulging in these behaviors and see how it impacts your career.

Let me leave you with a quote that would inspire you to make a change:

The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude” — Oprah Winfrey
